Another interesting article from Wine Enthusiast! March 21, 2016 Happy World Poetry Day!
March 17, 2016 Happy St. Patrick's Day! On Bing's site today, the featured photo is the Reading Room of the National Library of Ireland. Great for bookworms! The horseshoe-shaped dome of the Reading Room gives visitors this soothing view -- a break from careful examination of the various historical publications and periodicals available in the National Library of Ireland. The shades of minty green and blue are a big contrast to the polished wood floors, shelves and desks of the Reading Room.
Like the US Library of Congress, Ireland’s National Library is as much museum as it is a research facility. The library’s collection is the most comprehensive documented record of the history of Ireland. But beyond these studious walls in Dublin today, there will be a more active history taking shape in the streets, as the city celebrates Saint Patrick’s Day with a parade and various other festivities. December 11, 2014 A photograph taken by Martin Ratcliffe, with Sky-Skan, was selected and posted on today's APOD (Astronomy Photograph of the Day). Congratulations Martin! Moondog Night Image Credit & Copyright: Martin Ratcliffe http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap141211.html Explanation: In this night scene from the early hours of November 14, light from a last quarter Moon illuminates clouds above the mountaintop domes of Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson, Arizona. Bright Jupiter is just left of the overexposed lunar disk with a streak of camera lens flare immediately to the right, but that's no fireball meteor exploding near the center of the picture. Instead, from the roadside perspective a stunningly bright moondog or paraselene stands directly over Kitt Peaks's WIYN telescope. Analogous to a sundog or parhelion, a paraselene is produced by moonlight refracted through thin, hexagonal, plate-shaped ice crystals in high cirrus clouds. As determined by the crystal geometry, paraselenae (plural) are seen at an angle of 22 degrees or more from the Moon. Compared to the bright lunar disk they are more often faint and easier to spot when the Moon is low. About 10 minutes after the photograph even this bright moondog had faded from the night. | Posted November 10, 2014 Randolph Thomas Book Release Party - Sunday, November 16, 2014 | See Paul A llen on December 16, 2014. | October, 2014 Lynn Shurr also paints. When Jordan James decided to embark on a career as a private investigator, she never could have imagined that a chance encounter would lead to her staring down the barrel of a gun on the roof's edge of a high-rise building. As she begins to investigate her first case, the puzzling murder of a prominent businessman that has left Boston's finest mystified for more than two decades, she finds herself suddenly immersed in a treacherous underworld brimming with betrayal, raw greed, and political subterfuge of international proportions. In the midst of this, she discovers she is falling for her mysterious client despite the hints of his dark past. Can this feisty Southern girl with a penchant for trouble solve this baffling case or is she doomed to become another tragic chapter in an international conspiracy? I am excited to be attending the Creative Minds Writers Group 2014 Conference on Saturday, August 9 themed "Berries, Bridges and Books" featuring keynote speaker author Erica Spindler. This past weekend I read my first Erica Spindler novel entitled, "Breakneck." I enjoyed the book and recommend it. Joe Mariano was named in the acknowledgements and he had been referred to me as an Apple computer expert by graphic artist Cathy Throop Linder, with whom I attended high school. I read Ms. Spindler's bio, learned she resides in Mandeville, Louisiana and asked Rachel Sharpe, a featured author on this site, if she knew Ms. Spindler. Though she did not, Rachel discovered this writers conference being held in Hammond. I now follow Erica Spindler on Twitter and sent her a tweet regarding #BerriesBridgesBooks.
