Two interesting articles:

Leadership and motivation expert James Robbins, author of Nine Minutes on Monday, says that you can become a better manager by asking yourself—and providing thoughtful answers to—the following nine questions every Monday morning:

  1. Whom will I show a genuine interest in this week?
  2. Whom will I give feedback to?
  3. Whom will I recognize?
  4. Whom will I help grow this week?
  5. How will I connect job purpose to salary for someone?
  6. Whom will I help feel autonomous?
  7. What can I do to foster team unity?
  8. Where can I inject some fun?
  9. What do I need to model for my team members?

Once you have those answers, commit to following through.

Good leaders know the power of "grace in business," writes John Keyser. That means showing respect in all workplace interactions, and seeking to treat workers with dignity and serenity. "[I]n business, it is a combination of many qualities -- valuing people, being gracious and respectful, having gratitude and quiet confidence," Keyser writes.
